THE 3200 and Josh May

Here is a preview from THE 3200 article on Josh May:

Elements of grandiosity and removal penetrate May's large scale color photographs. In his piece titled Hong Kong 2008, white buildings intimidatingly  tower over the audience. In his two New Jersey photographs, a singular structure shrinks and remains in the distance as the foreground glistens with water. A majority of the pieces concentrate on a single piece of architecture while Compositions of city-scapes at an unidentifiable distance pepper May's work.

Julian Gilbert in THE 3200 Magazine

Check out Julian Gilbert's photographs in the first issue of THE 3200

"Julian Gilbert's array of compositions consist of more then just their snap-shot aesthetic. His parade of photographs create a map of urban-induced A.D.H.D. Gilbert succeeds in creating photographs that have the ability to stand alone, even if they are best seen side by side. He uses compelling graphic elements, that suck the viewer in and force us all to become Julian for a moment in time". (Erika Velazquez, for THE 3200)

The current collaborative exhibition at Ricco Maresca is an anxiety inducing, visually stunning, overwhelming experience. The pairings of Slota's collaged compositions, with Labute's bone chilling words successfully pull in the attention of the viewer.
The show closes on November 13th, 2010. Make sure to experience both terror and admiration at this noteworthy show.
